A Wolf in Dolly's Clothing
Dear fellow Missourian,
My wife and I have a website where we blog and post podcasts. It's sort of a fun way for us to stay in touch with family and friends.
Recently we interviewed Christina Heddell (from the Respect Life Apostolate) about Amendment 2, which will be on the ballots in November. It's a pretty hot issue, as you're probably aware. Normally, I'm not too politically charged to make initiatives and send pleas to friends, but this is different.
It's basically about cloning. Many differ on whether or not embryonic stem-cell research is wrong (I think it is), but the main point of this blog is to let you know that while the amendment claims to "ban cloning", it actually doesn't. It redefines "cloning" to mean something different than what you and I think when we hear the word "cloning".
Since 90% of Missourians disagree with the concept of cloning, most people will probably vote for Amendment 2 (since it claims to ban cloning). This would be unfortunate for those people, since the amendment actually constitutionally protects cloning.
So, anyway, check out the podcast, and if you feel so inspired, please spread the word about this issue. It's one thing to try and pass legislation that is ethically wrong, but it's another thing to deceive people into voting for something they don't want.
